Welcome To American Pride Youth Football League

APYFL is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving over 500 Boys and Girls living in the Prince William County Community by offering tackle football, flag football, and cheerleading. We provide children with a safe environment to play sports, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, discipline and fun. All of APYFL's coaches and administrators are volunteers.

We are a member of the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) which serves the Northern Virginia region, with 23 member clubs located in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties and Alexandria city. The purpose of the FCYFL is to provide participating youth with a healthful, enjoyable leisure time activity, and to foster in them the qualities of sportsmanship, team play, and integrity. For the 2009 season, the FCYFL had over 380 teams, 1,100 coaches, and 7,200 players playing a game that everyone loves!

Football is considered one of the most demanding and rewarding of all little league sports. Therefore, it requires a huge commitment to the program from both player and parent.

FCYFL HEAT ADVISORY NOTIFICATION
by joe blount posted 08/10/2010

FCYFL HEAT ADVISORY NOTIFICATION

The FCYFL is concerned on the health and well being of all our participants as it relates to heat and humidity in practices and games.

Therefore, on the home page of the FCYFL.ORG website at the top of the page, a “HEAT ADVISORY” notice will be posted by 4:00pm each day. This color-coded system will announce the MINIMUM levels of mandatory cautions to be exercised by each member club. During a heat advisory above code green, coaches must implement the heat precautions as listed. Most of youth sports practices in the various hours of the late afternoon and evening where conditions improve as sunset approaches. When consistently applied, the minimum restrictions set forth in the advisory system will assist everyone in enjoying a safe and productive experience in youth football.

This does not preclude any member commissioner from mandating more restrictions, as they feel necessary with the conditions facing their fields, facilities, and geographical locations where they practice and play games. The application of reasonable judgment is expected whenever conditions change or the situations are not covered by other guidelines.

All commissioners have the responsibility to enforce these notices and to apply all available means necessary to communicate these instructions to their coaches and administrators. Should the heat advisory system not be updated or experience periods of malfunction, all FCYFL commissioners are expected to use reasonable and best judgment, taking the most conservative path to ensure the safety and well-being of all their participants.
